Not too long ago, pornography was a furtive profession, its products created and consumed in the shadows. But it has steadily elbowed its way into the limelight, with an impact that can be measured not just by the Internet-fed ubiquity of pornography itself but by the way aspects of the porn sensibility now inform movies, music videos, fashion, magazines, and celebrity culture.

Even cooking shows on the Food Network -- the Food Network! -- contain distinct parallels with the cinematography, dialogue, and body language of pornography, according to an article wryly headlined ''Debbie Does Salad" in the October issue of Harper's magazine.

Chances are the republic will survive gastro-porn. But on a more serious level, a growing number of critics are raising concerns about the way an X-rated atmosphere is making its way, in diluted but unmistakable form, into popular entertainment.

I must admit though that seeing 14 year old girls looking like sluts at the mall disturbs me. What kind of fucking parent let's their daughters get tramp stamp tattoos on their backs? Hell, I see girls that I know are under 18 with obvious boob jobs. This country is going to hell in a hand basket and I really don't care to see porn become mainstream.

There you have it...parents. That is the problem with these kids. There were just as many half naked chicks, steamy movies and bad tv when i was a young impressionable girl as there is today. It is easier to find and more apt to influence this generation badly because parents are failing at being parents. Did my mother let me mimmick the latest mag cover? Hell no! Was I tattoooed and augmented at 16 -- not even; nor am I now at 28. It'd be great if people like this would stop whining about media and porn and start bitching at LAZY PARENTS. *steps off soapbox*
