Yawn. The knights of the road. Jet fuel for Iraq. What a crock of shit. Most truckers I see are overweight, underskilled, and road bullies in 18 wheelers. Railroads were abandoned but could be revived. I know it would put a lot of you unskilled gear jammers out of work, but life moves on. The public good wins.
Face it, truck driving is an entry level into life. It takes no skill. No training and no real investment. Next to cab driving, it is about as mindless as it gets. And I drove cab for years. So yes I have been a professional driver. So forget the pro driver shit. I will move a car around traffic better than anyone I have ever met. So you tell me why an unskilled dork with a couple of months training, should be allowed to move a few tons of hazardous product down an interstate near populated areas without even basic English skills.
