Default Re: 2much internet services threatens chatter

Hello Everyone,

For anyone who is interested, I have a few things to say on this subject, and a few things to say about the people who have posted it.

First:
KevinG, my friend Danny, RawAlex, etc. Thanks for the support.

Our chat system allows performers and administrators to boot people out of the room, but its based on IP addresses. A person can come right back into the site with a new IP and email address, and continue being an ass. This person kept coming back and was so over the top with his threats, that we actually had to call the Police in his home town and speak with an sergent and file an official complaint. It finally took our lawyer to get the police to get up off their butts to go into action and visit him at his place of work. I was not told what happened after that, but I assume he was fired for (a) logging into an adult website from work, and (b) for threatening chat girls.

We know exactly who he is because he made purchases on our website with his credit card, several times. His personal information was never released except to the police when we made our complaint.

Now, you know.

And now, on to other things.

Shellee: You first posted this on your website 2 weeks ago. But of course no one goes to your forum, and so you persuaded Gonzo to post it 2 days ago. According to our attorney, this is a big mistake. As "Administrators" / "Owners" of these forums, you may be putting yourselves at risk. It's one thing for a "user" to post libelous remarks, but its quite another thing legally for the OWNER of a website to post this kind of thing. You may want to ask a lawyer about that.

RawAlex, you said:

Reads like someone working hard to get sued themselves.
Yep!

Gonzo, you said:

Not the first time I've heard some non flattering comments about this company either. But I don't have any firsthand experience.
Actually, you do! While we have never done business together, you were our guest at our yacht party at Internext 2006, or did you forget? Gonzo, If you are going to automatically dis us without even bothering to ask us for our side, you are denying yourself the chance to gain some knowledge and even learn from our own experiences which we gladly share.

The tone of voice in the entire release read exactly like someone who was caught red handed over and over, and when the phone rang with a "stay away from out sites or we will get the law after you", they went this route. The writer is clearly a nutjob.
You are absolutely right. We have email and chat records going back quite a while on this person, and you hit the nail on the head. More than anything, he wants to meet the girls in person which he can't do of course. Our own customers have had online chat-room experiences with this person and can tell you many stories. When he gets caught and kicked out, his email rants scream of nut-job.

I would say based on the apparent fact that Mark called this guy on the phone would suggest that the guy was a member, not just a whackjob in a free chat room
Right again. We knew who he was because he made his purchase by credit card. CCBill posts all of the person data to us, telephone number included, except for the credit card # of course) so we know who our performers are chatting with. Of course everyone has all kinds of fantasies, but when they turn to death threats, stalker-talk etc, AND its repeated again and again, we call the cops.

I've known Mark Prince since even before the Interwebs...back in the old BBS days. He's one of the last people to personally threaten anyone, he has a lawyer that just lives for that stuff (who I've know for almost as long). This is just someone trying to cause shit and nothing more.
Are you calling me a weenie? You bastard!! Thank you sir for the awesome words.

Gonzo I'm very surprised that you would post this sort of thing without SOLID facts. You're usually much more responsible about your rumor mongering.
Forgive the poke in the ribs to all concerned here, but as I said earlier, Shellee Hale posted this same thing about me 2 weeks ago on her site (which nobody reads). Shellee and Gonzo have ads on each other's websites. Are you that surprised? OK, ok, sorry for the jab. I don't need to stoop..

For anyone still reading this... (HellooooOoo? still there?)

There are 2 VERY good things that came out of this incident with this customer. First, the antics of this person actually helped us to improve our software. In 2006, "anyone" could come in to LiveCamNetwork.com and chat, and pollute the chatroom with noise, begging, etc. The problem was: If we make our website "members only", how to we tease the new visitors into becoming paying customers? Our strongest selling point is the video quality and the performers. If we block everyone out, we won't sell.

We did 2 things to fix the problem. First, we bound the USERNAME + IP ADDRESS + EMAIL ADDRESS together. If a user was kicked out, all 3 were blocked. Next, we changed our software again to allow "Visitors" access to the chat rooms, but disabled their ability to type. This let them see the other chatters, the conversations, and of course, the high quality video and the sexy performers. This exposes the new customers to our sales pitch, but blocks the beggars and haters from causing trouble!

Another GREAT thing that came out of all of this is that this same person who made the original "press release" in 2006 also hassled other online video chat companies. One day in January 2007, I received a phone call from the president of that company. "Hello! Are you Mark Prince? Do you know this person? Yes? Can we talk?". This phone call has lead to brand new business that I am VERY happy to have.

So that's all I have to say on this subject. Those who know me know I'm a weenie (and proud of it). I'm proud and protective of my little company and our little product, LiveCamNetwork, and I always somehow manage to make lemonade out of lemons, which is more than I can say for at least 1 person involved in this thread.

CHEERS!

Mark Prince
