In this case, the hotel is practically across the street from the airport. Would be a cheap cab ride if you're content to stay at the hotel and maybe the mall across the street. Mons Venus and 2001 are also just around the corner.
However, there's lots to do in Tampa and it's spread out all around the bay, so I like having a car on hand, thus renting a pimp mobile.
In towns that are more dense, like Vegas, I rarely rent a car and do cab, limo or party bus depending on the occasion and number of people we're moving.
