I beleive Jace is correct, Now attempt to add this theory to "just about" any habit or american popular ideology, and you'd be amazed how much americans force themselfs to believe and practice habits, entertainment, & many other American activities & cultures, which someone tried, liked, and enticed someone else to try. All it takes is "just 2" and a trend has begun. (even in theories).

Absolutely yes ma'am, watching hundreds of men run threw they're cam shows and a majority of them request women to perform sexual anal acts "on them" and a majority would say, hush,hush, my wife or girlfriend doesn't know or wanna participate. I believe a major reason why they are so "in the closet" and see it as a "No-No" is pretty much exactly what Jace said "it's become taboo in your upbringing", this also included, Shame, Embarrassment and Fear from others finding out.

Normally people are ashamed or embarrassed to even discuss the topic, Worse off practice it. And it's all in the form of upbringing and religious habits embedded in your heads as children we receive.
Shoot, just use masturbation as an example, I remember when I was a child being told all types of myths and rumors, and I swear I believed them, Everytime I'd finish jack off I would look at my palm to see if hair was growing, or if my vision got blurry I would think subconsciously its due to jackin' off to much..lol. Well when I got older & discovered these where bogus lies, But still in the back of my mind I still believed masturbation is wrong,
"even though I still jacked off like a crazy monkey" because of my upbringing. Well anal and other sexual fetishes all fall into the same taboo ring.
Another issue is that it depends on which end is receiving or penetrating.
I mean if I enjoy giving my wife anal sex does that make me gay?
