The most direct response I can give in this situation is to say: We want the CC. Point blank, we want the Credit Card information, it is the life blood of a program such as ours. That Auth page explanation? We can rewrite it 100 ways that could all be true. That said, I don’t see that page as being misleading as I don’t think it persuades a user to submit a CC. It simply defines one reason we would take the CC.
I can rewrite that page over lunch. But I doubt it would make a difference. I am pretty sure that no one at Weg would trump me if I changed it. In other words, the page is not methodical.

I speak with some friends who are not webmasters and the memory of
"Your credit card will never be charged" is still alive and well in their memories. I'm sure I don't have to brush yours and you KNOW what I am talking about. Re-writing of this page is not as easy as you think it is.
