Dell can be a bastard like that - at least they've stopped adding on the most expensive service package by default.

If you're adding loads of things to the base model, it may be just as wise to pick the middle or top model - they may effectively do it at a bundle price.

About the only addition I would reccommend is some speakers & sub-woofer, if you haven't already got some, I bought mine (Altec Lansing) 3 pcs ago and they still chuck out some impressive sound, even with just "on-board" sound rather than a fancy schmancy sound card.
