Re: Do you decorate outside?
The house across the street from me put out their lights the day after Halloween. I've been looking at one of those snowglobes for weeks now. It gets old after the first couple of glances.
This is my first Christmas in this house, so I don't know how "into it" the neighborhood gets... although I did notice driving in Sunday that another house down around the bend has also gotten a snowglobe. The (very fat) woman was standing outside beating on it trying to get the "snow" inside to stop sticking to the plastic. Apparently she has a static problem.
We'll trim the house with lights and a wreath on the door but that's it. Maybe, MAYBE get my parents' old light-up three-foot Frosty out of their attic and put it out on the porch for the kids. Between the two houses I mentioned above, our power grid is already overtaxed, no need for me to add to the gaudiness and cause a blackout.
Inside though we'll decorate prettily... a nice tree in the front window and everything done up in deep burgundy, forest green, and gold. But NOT and I repeat NOT until the weekend after Thanksgiving. I'm not into this "let's race the retail market to see who can get the decorations out sooner" bullshit.
Our Wal-Mart was starting on its Christmas section in early August this year. Ugh.
