Any "fucking with the mail" is a felony. It would be up to the Postmaster to decide what constitutes "fucking" and whether they want to prosecute.
Luckily, we've had the same mail carrier ever since we've lived here, my beloved babe-o-licious Julie. We can always tell when it's her day off, though. That's the day we get the little piece of paper that says "we tried to deliver a package but no one was home." That causes Julie to *really* loose it. First off, it's very, very rare I'm not home. If she doesn't get an answer when she knocks, she just leaves everything on the patio table. (I live in a place where it's perfectly safe to do that.) I shop online all the time, and get a lot of packages. On one of her days off, my husband came home to find a very expensive book I'd ordered as a gift on the
ground leaning against the pole that holds up our mailbox. I'm grateful that none of the large amount of traffic on the main street included a thief.
Whenever I don't get mail I'm expecting, the post office is the usual first suspect.
