If I may interject a small bit of seriousness in this...er...thread...where you live does indeed have something to do with "couple status." The male/female ratio is important, as is the diversity of ages. It's easier to meet people in a place with a large population than it is to meet someone in a smaller town.
A single woman going to Alaska can pick and choose from a lot of men, as the ratio of men to women is so high.
