I play an Anne Murray Christmas album every year despite repeated familial requests to stop. It's my damned album and I'll play it if I want to, I say often!
My youngest always watched the Candian version of MTV (it may not have been called that, I don't remember what she called it) because she said not only were the veejays (if that term is still used) funnier and better, the music played was fantastic. I recognized a lot of names on your list because I've bought them from "dear Santa" lists.
She preferred Canadian television in general. I'd wander in, watch some teenagers dealing with life and mutter "damn, that was good," and she'd mutter back "of course it is, it's Canadian."
