Because they are idiots and seem to be creating stories just for the camera. As you know, none of the "good" news made it on the news for days. If you listened to the media, most every evacuee had a gun and was raping 2 year olds and killing old people. Then there are those I just don't like at all anyway. Geraldo comes to mind.
Edited to add - it's really no different than the media reporting ANYTHING. They are just meeting with people tired and willing to fight back in NOLA......
