Default Re: while you were fucking around and going down the memory lane

Glad the surgery went smoothly and wish you a speedy recovery!

I also had my gall bladder removed, so I can empathize with how your insides feel right about now.

Mine was taken out about 5 years or so ago. I was actually quite lucky to make it to the hospital when I did because I was told that my gall bladder was filled to the top with gall stones and was accompanied by acute pancreatitis. The Dr. told me that if I had gotten there even 5 minutes later than I did, I would have died. (I was also extremely lucky that I caught a nurse that was walking by, because if it hadn't been for her taking me to the back, I probably would have died in the waiting room because the admittance woman wouldn't listen to me when I was trying to tell her how bad it was... But, that's another little story all in itself...)

I was admitted to the hospital immediately. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything for a week(not even water) while they waited for my pancreatitis to get better.

Thankfully, I was hooked up to a push button demerol machine...

After that, they did the procedure where they go in and check to make sure that none of the stones got out of your gall bladder and are floating around where they shouldn't be. I woke up in the middle of that procedure and started gagging on the plastic hose they had down my throat(that SUCKED) until they put me out again.

And, then it was time for the surgery, which I will never forget because it was the first surgery and (so far)only surgery that I ever had. I didn't know what to expect, but, just like you said Serge, one minute you're looking up at the Dr. then the next minute, it feels like you just closed your eyes and opened them that quickly and it was over.

I was a little freaked out when I first woke up though because I didn't see anyone standing over me or around me at first. All I saw was the metal slab that I was laying on and I felt really cold. For a split second I thought I was in the morgue and that's the part that freaked me out a little.

But now, of course, everything is fine and I'm glad that it's all over with!
