Basically, 100+ people crowded in to a boat built for 15 people and risked trying to cross who know how many miles of open Pacific in a bid to reach the United States. The boat sank and it looks like only 7 of the 120 survived.
So, why not allow more legal immigration into the States ?

this country was founded on immigration when there was a need for immigration.
a recent poll conducted in Mexico found that 50% of Mexicans would move to the USA if they could and 1 in 4 would do so illegally if they could. and that is just Mexico. 1 country.
Are you going to happily let your entire city become a ghetto as you allow millions more people into the country than the system can absorb? or did you think that a bunch of people previously living on 5$ a day are going to show up with 2.5 million each to buy a nice house and car and invest a little and brighten up the neighborhood?
