I'm not sure what version of pivot you are running, but I've went and downloaded and installed the pivot_130_alpha31_full.zip. If this is the same build you're working with then there is a setting in the main admin screen that may (or may not) fix the referer block throwing the side bar into the main content.
Login and go to Administration -> Create / Edit Weblog -> just keep clicking the "go" button until you get to page 3. There should be a "Settings for Last Referers", you need to drop the "cut length" by at least 5 or more.
If you're on the same build then fingers crossed as this isn't a css problem
