Having been in the army in canada its gotten even worse.... we can't be made to do pushups outside specified PT times unless the seargent does them with us... no swearing .. all PC shit now.

When I joined I was HOPING for full metal jacket kind of stuff but alas, nothing even close.

Its a shame really that people who shouldn't really be doing things like that get in and then try to change the way its been done for, well, ever.

I personally believe that the harcore training like that is necessary and helps to build teams and camaraderie. This is especially important in the military where you depend on the guy next to you to save your life.

as for the physical stuff. that's nothing compared to being shot at. or shot period.
