Not true.
That's only the Sidekick, which does all of it's neat tricks thru Danger (the manufacturer) and their servers. The real problem is people using obvious username and password combos. I'm sure you could do the same thing hacking Yahoo Photos.
My phone is Tmo and my images are most assuredly stored on the phone itself....if anyone wants pics of liquor bottles or the FFN's dinners, I can hook you up. They do have the option to save to a website or blog or whatever, but by default they go the phone's memory.
