I can't be the first one to make that parallel.
Sunny weather on the Eastern US seems to detract from signups.
Romantic Holidays seem to be good for signups.
Christmas Break seems to be good -- people want to try out that porn on their new computers to see just how good the video card is.
Thanksgiving is for family, seems to not be good.
But, the last time gas prices rose like this, signups seemed to slow. Even Walmart reported lower same-store sales. The luxury boutiques didn't seem to notice a drop in sales. So, if sales drop, it would probably suggest that the working masses are the ones buying porn rather than millionaires.
