Yes indeed.
The word REich comes from the German translation of the Holy Roman Empire.
Each Reich is said to last 1000 years. The third only lasted 12 because of allied involvement and WWII.
So it is also deeply entwined in judeo-christian sense of time in a milleniumesque way. The jewish calendar is separated into thousand year increments, with the end of days coming in the 6000th year. The same is said for Christianity, although the calendar is based on the birth of Jesus, the time before and after....but it is roughly the same.
Sort of Ironic when you think of the NAtionalist Nazi Socialist movement and its ultimate goals. To have a national religion ruled under a reich by an emporer for a thousand years...
