You have to be happy with yourself and do what you do in this life, before even considering a partner. Actively searching for a long-term partner signifies a deep seated desire, that you don't like your own company or are not happy alone.
Go about your business and be happy in what you do, a partner will come along at the most unsuspecting time, or at least that is what happens in my case.
