the lesson can extend to (for me!) letting good revenue generators die because you don't have time ...
the odds are that its *rarely* going to be worth it to sell for 2 years profit unless you hate the project and don't want to deal with it!!! ... it depends on what your plan was going in, obviously not to lose money? ... but who knew? LOL
