Draft is a bad idea - why use more soldiers, when there are other ways to fight wars today? Iran, Cuba are places where "controlled ideology" revolts are possible. North Korea can probably be bought. Syria will change when the mullahs in Iran are gone. African countries will be able to take care of their own problems, IF western countries use the aid to force change.
IMHO, mandatory national service for young male/females is not good - I understand the idea, but I think that freedom also includes the freedom to be a "Grogan"
