Misfortune is what happens to people randomly. A chance fall with a broken leg is misfortune, the net going down on your chosen kick off day is misfortune.
When you go to the lengths that you have to cause what has happened to happen, it is called "just desserts" or "karma" or "blessing in disguise".
But it is far from misfortune.
