IMO, the majority of the movie goers will be inherently 'liberal' or 'lefties'. I don't think Moore's reputation would attract many coservatives.
The response of the audience you witnessed doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
Not everyone is as open minded as you and would go to the movie intending to see it for what it is.....an ingenious propoganda machine.
