Nobody - I mean NOBODY - who served on riverboats in Vietnam is a pussy, then or now. Quite often a replacement on a crew saw more combat in their first week than he would have experienced in the hottest zone during all of Gulf War I.

Dan ... suffice it to say that I don't agree with you that he "turned on his comrades in arms." I've said it before and I'll say it again - Kerry, Bush, Gore, and Clinton and their individual relationships to the war in Vietnam are all very typical of their generation. It's really hard to understand even if you lived through it.

The tragedy of it all is that so much attention has been focused on who's lying about what that not nearly enough attention has been paid to the real problem - how the Chain of Command in Vietnam, particularly that of the Army, completely and totally lost control. It wasn't the draftees that caused the problems - it was the "Best and The Brightest" who were supposed to be running the show.
