I've managed to get fairly entrenched in my childrens' school and find out what's going on and keeping educated myself.
Too often people DON'T question where the money goes in their school districts, they don't get involved enough. Sadly, my kids go to school with the children of these people. People that barely know the name of the principal of the school, people that don't attend school-parent meetings, people who don't get involved.

Yep, I hate to echo again what Vick's been saying, but parental involvement is the secret - either by helping out a home, helping out at school, or even just being aware of the school, teachers and how things work there.
