First of all, my place in "geekdom" must be secure, because I have read the complete works of Shakespeare AND all of Tolkien's Hobbit related books (well, okay, so I skimmed the Simarilion, but I made a valiant effort). And I will freely admit to having read The Hobbit and [/u]The Lord of the Rings[/u] repeadedly. They were bedtime reading for my children for several years.

However, it really strikes me as odd to find Buff making a [labert]ian argument. "You know, it's one thing to be able to recite Shakespeare from memory. "Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow..." because he wrote with style which just lends itself to being stored by the brain."

Gimme a break here - spoken like a true fool of a took, if you ask me. I mean, since the academic geeks decided years ago that Shakespeare was culture, being able to spout it off by rote is more "acceptable" than the memorization of something newer and more from the realm of popular culture? Balderdash and poppycock, I say ...
