I also found out why most of the chestnuts you get in the grocery store are rotten. They just set them out in bins like they can do with the other nuts. You can't do that with chestnuts - gotta keep them refrigerated or they go bad.

There's nothing better than getting them from a street vendor in downtown NYC when it's about 30 degrees outside.
