How can you even understand a book or a movie for that matter just one time?
I am one of those who underline passages on nearly every page i read in every book.
all my books are filled with place holders and underlined parts with notes on the side.
i dont read, i study a book when i pick it up.
how else can you learn from it?

Don't forget, I'm dumb.
Quite honestly, I rarely read books to "learn". While there ARE some which I enjoy learning from, I almost always read for strictly for entertainment. My attention span is short so magazine, newspaper, internet articles hold my interest better and teach me more than reading a book would do.
