BTW, Larry has a patent-pending application.. it has not been approved...he just has it filed. And his patent doesn't do any "age verifying" it's more using the E-signatures act to protect webmasters from minors who perjure themselves to lie about their birthdate.
Budweiser.com uses a birthdate check ,but Larry has added on the idea of having someone type their name into the signature block....

His system uses a birthday to verify age - hence, an age verification system. *He* even calls it an age verification script:

I don't know what my age verification script (www.birthdateverifier) has to do with the discussion, but for the record, I have not threatened anyone with any infringement claims relating to that invention. This is just something that I let my clients use free of charge.

His patent might only be pending, but he has already sent out letters informing at least one person with an age-verification script that they are probably infringing on his "patent". Not his "pending patent".
I don't know if he's allowed to do that without the patent actually being granted, but he's doing it. Maybe he's just *really* anxious to get those extra licensing fees rolling in from the people he's supposed to be the white knight for.
In the quote above he claims he hasn't sent out letters; Squirtit has posted emails proving the opposite:
Quote:
This was sent to me by Larry Walters on 9/15/2003
"When did you release it? It may infringe on my patent, but we can work something out if it does. Can I see a link to where it appears?
Larry"
Part of another email that same day:
"If you show me where to find it, I can give you my thoughts on whether it is infringing on my patent rights."
I do have a copy of all of the emails if there is any question as to the validity of my statements.

As you can see he refers to it as his "patent", not his "pending patent", and that he also calls it an "age verification script".
