I personally don't see the need to have a seperate org for ladies in the business. I think that we all work nicely together.. so why change that?

I agree... the only thing I've ever seen come out of any of these "women's only" type meetings/gatherings is a male bashing session - and THAT helps NO ONE.
Women in this industry fare better than women in other industries, possibly because of that "genderless" opportunity we have to prove ourselves online and build our reputations before we meet people in person. Of course there are always going to be chauvanists (on both sides of the fence... we women can be "catty" - lol), but as a whole I think we're very well off in this biz.
It's all about reputation and respect. Two things that you have to EARN on your own before you can expect them - respect is not a "right." The only women I've known in this industry that had bad reputations or didn't earn the respect of their peers, got that way because of their own actions or behaviors. Just like the men. We all know certain males in this industry whom we don't respect. It's a two-way street... it works for both genders.
Nothing against WIA or any other off-shoot board/gathering/group directly, but in general - I'm really getting sick of how separate we've all become. Our community has become segregated into so many different boards, so many different micro-communities - it's really become a pain in the ass to stay in touch with people and keep people informed about important issues & industry topics. IMHO we used to be much more "on the same page" about these things back when there were only a small handful of boards. Today - it's gotten WAY out of hand. To further segregate the industry in ANY way IMO is a big mistake.
