Killing off Buff and his ilk would have a disasterous effect on the economy and political landscape.
Buff, like most Americans, is a mindless consumer. He eats what he is fed. His identity, his knowledge of history and world politics comes via the flashing idiot box in the corner. And he obviously consumes alot.
What was the immediate response post 9-11? Get back on the planes, buy American, spend money, go back to normal. The economy is hurting, go back to consuming. Dont let the terrorists take your freedom. Your freedom to consume. If you stop consuming, and the economy collapses, the terrorists win. Not only was consumption the solution, it became an American's patriotic duty to consume. Freedom = consumption. Patriotism = consumption. It was partially brilliant yet mostly nauseating. Stick a flag on the minivan bitch, you are American.

Oh how I would love to line up the Buffs of the world and put a single bullet between their eyes. But as much as I hate to admit it, America needs Buff to survive. If we kill off the Buff, malls will cease to exist, entertainment industry would collapse, pulp style mass media... gone. Economy devastated. How do economists rate the health of this country? By looking at how much we consume. The more we consume, the healthier the economy. But the end result of mindless consumption is a soulless lump of phlegm we call an American. Cultureless and inept.
Imagine what our government would look like if they didnt have Buff sheep to lead around?
