Maybe everything that happens in these movies is supposed to happen. What if part of history meant that Sarah Connor was supposed to meet the T-1, so she has to survive to train her son to fight and send Reese back. Reese has to come back because that's what history dictates (John Connor never knew his dad, it was the result of a one night fling).

So, what's happening is that these robots coming back are part of what is supposed to happen. So it's going in a big historical loop.

The reason all of the T1's sound and look alike is because they are mass produced on an assmbly line.

Remember at the end of Terminator when the T1 was destroyed in the factory? Notice the name on the building? Cyber Dynamics, Inc.? That was the company that produced the T1's in the first place, so that would suggest where the initial chip came from. So, thus began the loop...or did it begin with Sarah Conner meeting the T1? Or with Reese and T1 traveling back in time? Where does history start and where does it end?

The reason the robots seem "stupid" is their main function is to terminate their target, nothing else, but they have adaptive elements, so they can learn. That's why in T3, John Connor has to re-teach the T1. It's not the same robot, rather the same model.

Sorry, having read the scripts and seen the first two movie several times and having recently seen the third one, I'm a bit into the series ;-)))
