I can't remember (which is amazing since I have been on just about every diet in America from about age 10) but is food optimising talked about in the States at all? One of the biggest diet/slimming chains in the UK is Slimming World and it is the basis of their system. I've found it to be almost a marriage between Atkins and WW. I lost 30lbs on it last year but fell off it because
. My husband and I are going back on it tomorrow. Doing the shopping for it today. He has never before agreed to go on a diet with me so hopefully that will help. He is diabetic so it isn't like he couldn't use it and it is a pain to cook essentially two meals.
Anyway, the main gist is that you have two types of days - red days and green days. On the red days meat makes up the majority of your diet and you can have all the lean meat you want in a day. That means, you can cut off the fat off bacon (easier in the UK where most bacon isn't streaky) and it is a free food. On the green day grains and potato make up most of your diet. So, that is when you can fill up on pasta, rice, spuds. On both days most veg (exceptions being corn and spuds which are not free on red days) and fruit (in whole form..juice has to be counted) are free.
http://www.slimming-world.co.uk is the website but not sure if there is something similar in the States.
