In Canada, the post office must respect your with for no spam. If you put a "no ad mail" sticker on your mailbox, they will not deliver anything in "bulk" class to your mail. Locally, that same sticker also keeps the door to door flyer people from dropping their little offerings all over your front step as well.

Alex -
They used to do that here (US) too - they still might in some areas, but when I moved from N. California to S. California I was told that the Post Office "didn't have time" to remember who got the junk mail and who didn't and that I should just throw it out if I didn't want it.
The post office used to promote the "no junk mail" policy as an environmental benefit to help save the trees and our landfills. Apparently now they don't have time - or just don't care.
Kinda sounds like SPAM to me - "if you don't like it, just delete it." Yeah, that makes sense until you're getting 100's of spam mails each day.
