Bush I lost an election after winning Gulf War I and that had a lot more support.

there is definately a case that his popularity can plunge much faster than it rose. its clearly too early to say anything conclusively. i thought that this would be a key turning point. with Bush 1, Desert Storm was a distraction. With Bush 2, its a crusade.
i base what i said on a few factors:
1) fast, clean Iraqi victory
2) economy recovering.
3) democrats already threw everything but the kitchen sink at him (Enron, stock scandals, failing economy etc) they will have to get really creative to find a way to discredit him.
4) more bad guys on the chopping block - North Korea, Iran, Syria. to quote Clinton "in a time of crisis, people would have someone lead that is strong and wrong, than weak and right"
