Same here. My Mom's method was sliced, fried and slapped on hamburger buns..
I think the ultimate weird poverty food in our house was ketchup and mayo sandwiches...
Spam actually isn't that frightening - the one thing that I never tried (due to fear probably) is
Potted meat food product.
1) What the HELL is potted meat?
2) If you've actually got to put "food product" on the label, it's horror in a can, no?
