I would also add that its not about getting the "biggest" members area in the world (was a trend for a while) - there are far more bad plugins then good ones.
If a new memberīs first experience, when clicking in the members area, is one those "mass low rate 10 sec. video clips" feeds, then it sticks with him, and the next click he might do is to the cancel page...
