Torone, it isn't the word itself, it is what it means, and what it can mean.
Remember, fuck is just a word, and can be used to describe the very best to the very worst! (let's fuck, or fuck you!).
God brings in a set of values, a set of moral judgements, that are not those of all the participants in the situation. "one nation under god" suggests that the whole nation agrees on one god. Not likely (someone reported this week over 2600 different religions in the US).
The moral implications of the use of God by a christian President sets a moral standard that is higher than some people want to live by, which is often exactly against the US constitution and court rulings. Abortion being one of the most obvious examples.
Most importantly, it puts the president in a situation of deciding who the winning team is religeously. In his faith based initiatives, how many dollars go to christians, but won't go to islamic people, or athiests? Would a person get better services if they lied and claimed to be christian?
Church and state are two ends of a stick, bending them together will certainly break the stick.
