I say go with the Canon GL-2, nice size and great quality 3cdd and a canon lense. We used a Sony the past few years, and it was great, but when we went to buy new cameras, we selected the GL2. Canons have better sound and the white balance is a bit warmer than the Sony. For $2400, or less now, it is a great camera.

For still, we use Canon D30s and D60s, with Canon L series lenses (the 28-70mm F2.8 to be exact).

Lights are essential! We use Photoflex with SoftBoxes. ARRI, CoolLux, Lowell all make nice lights. Mole Richardson is top of the line.

If money is no object go with HMI's over tungsten. HMI's are cloror balanced to daylight and use lower wattage, and just give off really nice light. Otherwise, be carful around windows
