Pakistan is my bet for bin Laden. Everyone assumes that he has a fleet of private planes or whatever, but really it is extremely difficult to even get cross-continent when you're public enemy #1. For fence-sitting muslims a single tip to the military could net them $10 mil or whatever they're offering, already Afghan villagers have cooperated beyond what we expected.
The length between his communications suggests to me he was in deep hiding for quite awhile, with no good access to a full media studio (he'd want to block out background noise in the tape to prevent any tips to his location.) Personally this whole situation weirds me out, from Saddam's reticence and strange behavior to our incompetence in the hunt for terror suspects. The world is growing smaller by the way with high speed everything, shouldn't this be a bit easier?
