Adult Biz expanding ?

Im on several media contact lists and I got this one in my email yesterday on a magazine piece they are looking for help with.

Query: The recession has left many women desperate in these desperate times. We are looking for women that have decided to make a change in their careers that have lead to striping.

Anyone think this is a trend or just the media looking for an angle?

I think has some legitimacy, though it's an old angle - I started seeing "more women are turning to sex work in the recession" stories right after the hellidaze last year. .

as someone who actually hires models its actually not. Now for escorting it is and maybe stripping it is but those are a different beasts than porn that's out there forever.

yup, and from what I've been hearing escorts and strip clubs aren't exactly doing a booming biz these days either

I have a friend who has a higher end escort business and she tells me things are slow.

Yeah, my stripper and hooker friends are hurting right now.

I've seen quite a number of articles and tv segments on this very thing lately.

Interesting, doesn't seem to be a slow down for t-girls...

I am mostly hearing from producer types that there are more girls turning up willing to do the work, which is somewhat good, but it is leading to a massive oversupply that has most porn girls crying for lack of work.

When you consider that "Porn Valley" will apparently produce something like 40% less videos this year than 2 years ago, 4 scenes each... that is a ton of porngirls not making a living. Recently, I have found it harder and harder to find good pornstar content to promote, specifically Asian pornstar stuff. That niche has all but dried up.

So on one side, there may be more girls willing to do the work, but less work, and less actual money getting spent. Sort of a perfect storm for keeping content costs cheap.

Porn Valley talent agencies are going to have to accept this reality pretty soon or they're going to lose all of their talent.

I'm hearing more and more stories of talent booking gigs directly when their agent is telling them there's nothing available.

When the studios and talent are cutting them out of the loop, due to the over market rates they're insisting on, they'll either modify their rates or close the doors.

I agree with Tony on the modeling end, what I'm seeing from this end is similar. I would consider influx of new "adult" models to be about flat. However, we have been getting a huge uptick in models willing to do swimwear, lingerie, topless, etc for at least the last year.

I interpret that as the young girls need the money, but they're pretty savvy about knowing whatever they do is out there forever and may be seen by dad, uncle george or any future employer.

Hookers and strippers....not my thing, so I dont know for sure, but it would make sense that everyone's entertainment budget is reduced. And thus they feel it.

If you don't already have it, Jules Jordan with Premium Cash has a higher than usual number of Asian Pornstars in the mix. Jules must have a 'thing' for Asian hotties.

Yul, Jules Jordan is about the only one besides Nasty Dollars / Muffia that has any decent recent asian american pornstar content. Even NScash that use to have a bunch of stuff has gone to more generic twenty-something white teens.

In the webcam and phonesex world I've seen a lot of people who "retired" from doing private shows and calls come back over the past year or so. Seems like weekends especially have gotten more competitive as a lot of people picked it up as a part-time supplement income.

Strip clubs are dead in Vegas these days and the price of hookers has gone way down, so if there is an influx of newbies I'm sure they are disappointed, around here anyway.

My last trip to Vegas, I went into OG with a friend, thinking it would be the OG of old. Wrong-o bongo. The club had been redone, but the real trick was the gaping empty space in there. Not only that, but the women were remarkably willing to give the farm away for a $20 lap dance. Desperation? Oh yeah.

The problem? Even on a super conservative budget, a las vegas strip club can run your hundreds of dollars for a very ordinary experience. I can see why they would be empty at this point.

I don't miss my strip club days where I spent money like crazy on strippers.
