They all cap at 5 gig a month. For work, marketing, emails, chat how fast can one blow thru that?

For surfing, email, chat, etc, you'll never hit it unless you're trying to use it as your primary connection. Typical usage for vacations or just using it when you're away from the house and dont have wifi, it's fine. Stay away from video and big downloads or uploads though. You can chew thru a gig pretty quickly that way. |

i use desktops for horsepower and storage. rendering videos and the like still better done on desktops. but notebooks portability is addictive even inside the house. i can work anywhere i want. |

I'm still using my old IBM Thinkpad from 2001. It just may be time to upgrade soon!

AT&T has the 5 gig cap, but they don't charge you for overages. (stupid eh?)

comcast now has their 250 gig per month limit, though i've not yet heard of anyone getting tagged here locally. now if you run some form of p2p 24/7 and your neighbors complain, you can bet you get "the letter". same is true of the wireless companies. 7-10 gigs every now and then when travelling likely wont get their attention. use it as your primary connection though and roll past that 5 gig limit as a matter of routine and you get flagged. you'll find same thing is true of "unlimited roaming". get an unlimited roaming plan then move someplace your primary carrier has no presence and i would bet you last probably 120 days max. |

this will become very juicy whenever RIM releases a HSDPA blackberry...as that'll give you 3G speeds on T-Mo's network. |
