Ex-Teacher Sentenced For Showing Porn To Students

MANSFIELD, Ohio — A former teacher convicted of showing pornography to high school students avoided prison time on Wednesday, but was sentenced to three years probation.

Prosecutors said that Benjamin Williams brought students to his apartment on several different occasions last year, 10TV's Tanisha Mallett reported.

During some of those visits, Williams showed the students pornography that was on his computer.

The former Mansfield Comprehensive High School teacher pleaded guilty last month to two counts of disseminating harmful matter to a juvenile.

Williams, 23, also pleaded guilty to two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Williams apologized in court on Wednesday, but Judge James Henson still questioned his decision to show students porn.

"You had teenagers in your home. You were a teacher," Henson said. "Where did you get off thinking that was proper?"

In addition to probation, Williams was ordered to pay counseling fees for one of the students. He was also told to stay away from all juveniles, Mallett reported.

lucky me .... living in Ohio, I have to watch out for those two laws.
Hell ... I got convicted of attempted contribution to the delinquency of a minor
(my own daughter ) a few years back primarily because I refused to act
like a live-in cop / warden in my own home.

well ... yeah. As a teacher he had a special responsibility.

I was just pointing out some laws protecting minors can
abridge adult freedoms and that Ohio's laws are especially onerous.

Ohio is very boring..having spent two weeks there... I feel that I lost brain cells! This teacher may have been experiencing the same thing!:blink:
