I'm in....

But after this week, let's go to every OTHER week....doing it every week is making it tough for my system to recover.

I'll be there, hubby is back in Seattle. He really now understands that I don't just eat at midnight. It's about the company kept.

And...after last week all be advised. We sit at midnight.

I have to wash my hair.

Actually, one of the things I've been most scared of driving back alone down basically empty streets in the middle of the night happened last week: woman in Jeep flipped on the side of 575 and wasn't found for 8 hours. She was dead and her 2 kids were in there upside down for 8 hours until another driver happened to spot them.

When I do late night things in ATL from now on, I'm staying there.

Actually, no. I think the real problem is several of us were 20-30 minutes early.

The place was FULL at 11:30....when I arrived, I literally took the last open parking space short of going into the dirt lot in the empty building behind the place. It starts to empty out right after that, lots more people going out than coming in. But we did have to wait 10 minutes or so for a table.

I think the moral is go ahead and at least let them know to get the table setup working. At our normal later arrivals times we've never had to wait. Midnight seems to be the magic point where it goes from slammed to starting to thin out.

If she'd followed proper etiquette, whoeever was expecting the SMS that never came would've called cops and been looking for her much sooner.

Incorrect. That was tested after dinner at Roasters. No SMS sent, no posts made on the boards, no ICQs sent, nada. And no cops were called or even an attempt at contact. Yeah, that was one of the straws.

Hmmmm...and do you remember the fact that I had a business emergency to tend to as the reason I skyed out of Roasters so fast? Something directly impacting two people who work for me. Something indirectly impacting most of the others who depend upon me to provide them with a paycheck that puts food on their tables, clothes on the back of their children and roofs over their head?

I spent from the time I got into the truck til about 1AM on conference calls and doing other forms of damage control. Ask GonZo or Dickinbush, both of them caught just a bit of the rant after the fact when I finally got the train back on the tracks.

Now if during all of that I inadvertently let it slip my mind to check and see if you were able to find your way from dinner to your house, then I sincerely fucking apologize.

And I know how hard it is for you to believe in best intentions of "friends" when things dont revolve around you, but believe it or not I suspect any one of us would've very quickly realized you were MIA if you didn't turn up online soon even without notification and would've send someone to find the carcass...

Oh, someone did check up on me - a friend of mine :)

Edited to add - and no need for a lenthly explanation - like I said, it was just one straw - not the whole basket. You might think I'm dumb, but I'm not totally irrational ;)

Again, you're right, I'm an evil mean hateful person, you're right, I'm wrong.

unfortunately I am not going to be able to make it tonight....there is a SMALL possibility I will be there, but my wife's best friend needs some help with something at her new store and it could take a few hours...something about moving big shelves and stuff, things only a big fat, i mean strong, man can do

I am going to try and be on my way by 11pm, but she is in East Atlanta, so the drive from there to marietta diner is going on 45 minutes to an hour

Drive times and traffic are no excuse with Hellpuppy and Gonzo. If you live an hour and half away and can't get there in 15 minutes, you're toast.

that has never been the case for me...I am sorry that you feel so victimized though ;)

No problem, we do it again in 2 weeks.....same time same place.

I missed last night as well, I hit Gonzo with the news I was not coming.

That is the thing with friends... you can have a really crappy day and no one hates you for not showing up.

I am glad to hear there were new faces and I'll see you all in 2 weeks.

That's very true! And they don't ridicule you for weeks/months about it either. ;)

Jace, I don't feel victimized, but when 2 people send you 3-4 SMSs a week "inviting" you for dinner or breakfast in 15 minutes when they know you live an hour and a half a way, it gets a little old - fast ;) I have rectified the problem on my own - and my cell phone bill thanks me :)

But you sure are spending a lot of time and energy continuing to bitch about it to anyone who'll listen.

And I'm not going to get drawn into one your point by point arguements that'll go on for days. Only one who gains from that MIGHT be GonZo with some extra page impressions, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't want them that way.

I will say this, what's done is done. The past is the past, no one can do anything about it. Your interpretation and perception of events is very different from our intentions. What I, or anyone else, thinks of your perceptions is irrelevent. They are your's and your's alone, and I am guilty of not recognizing it before you were downright pissed off.

So be it, that's in the past, nothing I can do other than offer apologies, which I have.

What happens from here is up to you. You just want to be left alone, done. No one has said shit to or about you other than in direct response to you. Ask anyone who has been at breakfast or other events, we're not even discussing you behind your back.

If you wish to rejoin the fold, the door is open as it always has been, and I think we all have a pretty good understanding of what NOT to do going forward to tweeze you up. Or stay in the mountains and tell everyone we're evil incarnate if that's the only way you're going to be happy.

Your move.

I would have taken the rest of your post a lot more seriously had you not started with this.

I can't make someone change, nor do I want to. There are just some behaviors I can't/won't put up with. That's just me. It's not anyone's "fault", just a difference in what people interpret as friendships.

No biggie. You're not bothering me any more, so I'll not bother you either. Sorry.

And no, I'm not "staying in the mountains" - I've probably been to ATL more in the last month than usual and have seen more people in the industry than usual, though not always under the best of circumstances.

And I've never said a word about anyone being evil. Though I DO wonder if I know the "Vinny" drunk you saw the other night......

Then I sincerely hope you'll find some people who will hand you pepper when you ask for salt and that makes you happy.

Well, you just disproved me - I DID get you to start that. Even if it came with the ketchup, sweetners, pepper sauce, napkins, silverware, plates, candle, lightbulb from the overhead light, seat cushions, wallpaper, and then starting again with taking all the same from the next table.
