we are about a week behind on it though, she gets about 20 a day, and with the site moving as slow as it does sometimes it makes it hard to answer them all

between myspace and xpeeps she stays pretty busy with contacting people daily

the trouble is that they don't sign up, and I can't figure it out...maybe when they can't see nudity they think it isn't there! damn, i never thought of that...maybe they actually think every picture in her site is going to have her covering her boobs with her hand....damn...cause we know, after all, that the surfer is the dumbest part of the adult webmastering experience

you keep forgetting that they are the ones arguing that its a brave new world that older guys don't understand. we should all be reading very attentive at how not to make money, how not to manage your time well and how to convince yourself you are actually doing it for the passion, not dollars... its something quite new to most of the people that have been around for a while.

please... carry on about how not to make money. many old timers are very interested in the n00b perspective.

JR? I don't build for the money, I build because I enjoy the "art" of building.
maybe I'm in the wrong business sir. And should just dedicate my talent to being a designer, cause its what I enjoy doing the most. I don't speak for anyone else but myself when I say that, it's not all about the $$$, I need to enjoy what I do & if I find happiness in what I do, and I'm able to bring in money while I do it. Then that will make me even more happier.

The PROS here have lost this in a sence, it's become more of an $$$ reigns,
and who cares much on detail or enjoying what they offer the public, just show me the money. With all due respect sir, I feel you all just don't care anymore about the public. as long as the bank accounts are full.

But I try to put myself in the "freeloaders shoes" intentionally. How else does one see what the surfer is seeking? (paying or non paying) unless you look at it from there point of view?

for some reason you all have this misconception that I am also in this for the fun of it...I am in this for one simple thing, the money...yes, I love being a webmaster and I love any chance I get to design because I do have artists blood running through me, but money is all it boils down to for me

but I also don't agree that we shoul;d treat surfers like shit until they buy...if I am selling something I am not going to treat someone like shit until they buy, I treat every single person like they are going to buy my product, and if they don't, oh well, I will make money on the next person

i just don't know what to think about you man...you just have a really wierd way of looking at things....times have changed, and the surfer doesn't like being treated like shit anymore because if you treat them like shit, they will just go down the net to another site that appreciates them

one thing I do know is that our site keeps a consistant ratio of around 1:350, and that is with even tgp traffic..so, while you MAY think that I am doing something wrong, my stats show that I am doing something right..and at the end of the day nothing you can say will affect the way I think because I just have to look at my stats to know I am doing the right thing

You know, just a thought here but back in the day there were oh, say 5000 webmasters to compete with for sales. Today maybe there's 500,000. The sheer number of n00bs in today's game is a LARGE part of the reason why the "dinosaurs" are maybe a little jaded.

It's not rocket science to realize that the playing field is spread out 1000's of times wider today than it was in 1998 (when I started) or earlier.

I have mad respect for most of the guys who were in the game already when I got in. Most of the ones I knocked shoulders with were honest, and although we all valued our surfers we were all also patently aware of the aweful truth.... that surfers give about as much of a shit about you the webmaster as you do about them, period. Consider the fact that many of those "dinosaurs" are still around, their businesses still thriving. It's called being adaptable, it's called not only being innovative but in thinking in the long-term.

Some of you guys are getting quite cocky at the oldies, but the fact is they made it, you haven't yet.

No need for all the lameass attitude from either side. It's counterproductive and a huge waste of time, but the other fact to consider here is: Which side can honestly afford and justify that waste of time? My vote goes to the oldies.

its all about ROI (money and time). for some people it makes perfect sense to work 18hrs a day, competing with 500,000 idiots for 5K a month just so they can temporarily dodge their real destiny of flipping burgers. for those who know their earning potential and the value of their time and considering the general instability of this business, its not worth it.

i agree with jace in the sense that its stupid to bicker back and forth between n00bs and early guys... but its no less stupid to be completely broke and naive and challenge the history, knowledge and experience of those who have been there and done it. the business is full of fads that come and go weekly and monthly. what worked well in 97 did not work in 98. what worked well in 2004, didn't in 2005. so what? nothing new. but at the end of the day, you are selling and trading a commodity. the basics are timeless. sales are sales. customers are customers, traffic is traffic. quality is quality. value is value. customer service is customer service. that was true in 97. its true today.... no matter how badly many here would like to think differently.

Jace, you need to teach your knowledge... so others may follow in your footsteps. Teach them "how to do" and "what to do". You be their leader, and they will follow you. Do not waste your energy on old timers - go out there and teach a man how to fish, teach him where to fish, and teach him to teach others.
