Thanksgiving Holiday...

Flew in to Philly to celebrate the holiday with my family I haven't seen in almost 2 decades. My cousin who I used to carry and sing to sleep is 19 and in college now. Time flies.

To the person, each family member was in shock at my size. I guess I've grown a bit since 18 years old. Looking at the old family VHS tapes, I've probably put on about 100lbs and 2 inches in height.

Pennslyvania is fucking cold. Below zero every night. Tomorrow I'm off to do some sightseeing of my old neighborhood and schools. Nostalgia at it's best.

On the way back to my hotel, I almost killed a deer. Fucker ran across the street, thank R-n I was doing about 40mph and noticed the car on the other side slow down, or it would have been deer in windshield.

I think the funniest thing about the whole trip was getting a rental car. I wanted a Charger, they didn't have it, got put into a PT Cruiser, then a Dodge Stratus, and finally, since they were all out, I got a Nissan Sentra. Now I had one way back, and remembered them being a little bigger. I literally have to enter with my back first, knees tucked in to get into this car. Think 10 clowns trying to get out of a car, cause that's what it feels like. I'm gonna pick up Dravyk tomorrow in it, this should be fun since it looks like my shoulder hangs onto his seat. :)

Ahhhh, the mammories.

Fucking false alarm at the Sheraton at 5 fucking AM. Goddamn water main broke, shut down the elevators. I just got back to my room, and it's 5:55am.

This Holiday just keeps getting better. You might have to wake me up with a phone call at 11 Harry.

Well wasn't it WC Fields that intimated that being in Phillie was slightly better than being dead.

I believe it's either the truth or a really great story that W.C. Field's headstone reads "I'd rather be here than in Philadelphia." :)

Well anyone who knows, I take care of my elderly mother who lives here with me, and she was sick and vomiting all night until around 6-6:30 in the morning. I got to sleep around 7am.

That was only the beginning. There's some young folks who moved in nextdoor. Early 20s. And they're also renovating so they're not even there half the time. And they surely don't know anything much about the neighborhood, let alone when trash day is. One of them doesn't even seem to know how to park (though I suspect it may also have to do with being drunk at 4am.)

Less than an hour after sleep, I was greeted with 10 minutes of off-and-on bleeting of a diesel engine horn from the City trash truck, who couldn't get pass the idiot nextdoor's friend who ... couldn't properly park a sub-compact hackback!! Six or seven feet into the road.

Then about 10 minutes later I somehow went back to sleep. About an hour later somewhere around 9am, I was then greeted with 10 non-stop minutes of truck horns. It wasn't merely trash day, it was recycling day too. And that truck also couldn't get by.

At 10:30 the police were knocking on my neighbors door to get them to move the car ... since they didn't hear the normal knocking, they started knocking with the baton sticks ....

I couldn't make this shit up if I tried. To say I was bleery-eyed and pissed the fuck off would be an understatement.

Anyway, tried to hook up with Ant later, but with his flight plans, it just wasn't in the cards. :(

You Know You're From Philadelphia When...

You punctuate every sentence with, "You know" at least twice.
You find yourself using "yo" and "youse guys" when talking long-distance to family members.
You think that $2,500 a year for insurance on a 1977 Toyota Corolla is a bargain.
You find youself at a nice restaurant thinking "I wonder if they have cheese steaks?"
You know where to find the Rocky statue.
You will buy a pretzel from anyone, anywhere without even thinking of where it was - or where his hands have been.
You can't imagine a breakfast without scrapple.
You have the pizza place on speed dial.

It might have been better to remain silent and let us speculate what pathetic chain of events led to you being unable to meet up with Ant.

LOL
