Until the youngest morphed into a chef, those Birthday, Mother's Day/Father's Day meals were a little rough. Luckily, she morphed early. The very first time I ever had steak au poivre was in my own house on an anniversary. I didn't know there were that many different kinds of peppercorns in existance, much less how expensive they all were.... It was worth it, though. The meal was exquisite. :)

She used to love hanging out at heather's house. She had somebody to talk "chef speak" with. I used to nod and smile a lot, then toddle along behind when they went to fancy kitchen supply stores. (I cook like a "Mom." I can walk into a kitchen, grab three or four ingredients and turn them into a perfectly acceptable meal with kids hanging around my feet. Recipes? Fugettaboutit.) :)
