Home Poker Tourney, Need advice

Im playing in a local poker tourney tomorrow. 100 people, $50 buyin. We start with 5k in tourney chips and the blinds start at 25/25. Ive never seen a tourney with the small and big blind the same. The blinds will increase to 25/50 after 45 mins and continue to double every 45 mins. After many hours when the blinds are up to 600 or so they will add an ante of 100 which increases to 200 after a couple blind levels. Im skeptical that this can be completed in one day. Im also not sure what strategy I should use since Im used to playing tourneys that start with 75xBB instead of 200xBB. Most of you know that Im mostly a SNG player so Im not worried about the later stages. I have no idea what kind of raise is appropriate when the number of chips are so huge compared to the blind. I would usually raise 3-5x the BB with good hands. Any ideas?

3-5 times the big blind is still an appropriate raise though you should watch early in the tournamment when the blinds are small if the raises at that amount are having the desired effect. In that first weird round where the blinds are the same I suggest you treat the big blind as if it were $50 anyways as home games and tourneys tend to be much looser. If those standard raises aren't getting the people out that you want then you have to adjust a bit and go higher with them.
