Everybody ready to get back to the project ?
 

I think I will have time again.... :blink:

On the 3rd of this month I took on a project and I am probably past the halfway point now, so I can relax a little and get back to the important stuff.

Sorry to lose so much momentum though :(


So, I will try to get step 5 up tomorrow and then we can go from there.

Sorry guys, I'm running slightly behind schedule to a string of fuck ups beyond my control. Morgan, are you going to be around this evening at all ? If so perhaps we could get cracking and see if I can't get myself up to speed :)

Wednesday, the day I love to hate because my husband is in class until late tonight, is the *perfect* day for me to keep occupied doing "work stuff"!!! :)

Sounds great ! I have a plethora of distractions but am sure we can get some bits and pieces done. I did the ICRA registration thing and they have sent me some stuff by email to drop onto my site, so I need to do that. Plus we didn't finish going through building my main page last time, so plenty to get stuck in to :yowsa:

Yanno, totally forgetting Step 4 isn't a *real* problem...until the second you discover that *you* were doing Step 4. Well, then, technically, Step 4 isn't a problem...but there definitely is *some* kind of problem. :headwall: Sorry, sarettah. I think I'm in semi-control now.

Bumpety bump, are we going to be starting again soon Sarettah ? I know you've been busy and I've been pretty tied up with other stuff too, are you nearly ready to get cracking again ?

Hope you didn't think anyone was having a dig at ya (I certainly wasn't). Day jobs are a bitch and they constantly gets in the way of what I want to be doing :yowsa:

Hang in there, sarettah. Stuff happens. We'll get rocking on it soon. I now have *two* newbies...er...what's before "newbie status"?...they're not even newbies yet, but will be soon, who want to get in on the TGP project.

Dom...I should be around today. I'm so sorry about yesterday. I got very ill and had to take to me bed. :( Today is a little better and I really, really want to get some work done. :)

I completely understand, when it looked like I had lost you for the evening I followed suit and went and got some kip myself :D

I've been mithering Trev over ICQ today with some of my questions so more work for me to do over the weekend. What I think I'll do is crack on with it and either hit you up or post on here if I've got any questions.

For the benefit of anyone else in a similar situation, I was thinking of starting a thread with some bullet point updates in outlining some of the many :-pearl: 's already imparted to me - good idea or bad idea ? I'll let the public decide !

Dom, I did not take anything badly.

It is simple, I am project lead on this thing and I got really good momentum at the start and now I am dropping the ball on getting it back up to speed. My fault, my problem. But hopefully it will be addressed.

The project I have been working on is one where I got a note saying "hey, my programmer quit on me, can you finish it up?"

So, I have been working in "seat of my pants" mode, taking defintion from what was already done, trying to salvage code that is already written where I can, trying to take care of scope creep (Client sending a note, can we add this here or can we add that there) and still trying to get the whole thing done in a forthright manner. I am at this point 20 days into the project. We are getting close to done though...(lolol if you can ever call anything "done" in the programming world).

Now, the good news from this is I have developed a shit load of new code, some of it very cool and when I get back to the TGP project I will be able to share some new moethods that will come in handy, especially when we get to the submission script. I have also developed a pretty nice "framework" that will allow quick set up of a custom site and for anyonewho wants it I will probably share some of that code in the TGP project too :)

So, if I can get my head out of my ass for a little bit, I will get step 5 written and up to date and go from there.

I've just got to tell you not to beat yourself up over this, things happen. You're doing a great job. :okthumb:


I'm going to propose it to the powers that be, that all of the stages be put in to a (yet to be created) tutorial section as well. Plus Morgans posts on free sites are also deserving of a more permanent and prominent home. :)

Trev...thanks for the kind words, crumpet. I have to get back to that and write more...at the moment my creative juices have taken a nosedive, though.

This is my second TGP, one that I'm proud to say I set up with Remote Thumbs all by myself...after some wonderful, wonderful tutoring from sarettah on the first one! :okthumb:

Now, this is *very* much a work in progress. It's by no means finished yet.

That sucks. Did you check your nameserves are CWnic? I noticed that when I buy domains from them occasionally they don't stick or something.
